Grant Writing

Grant Writing & Funding Architecture

From small foundation awards to federal grant programs, we write competitive applications across the full funding landscape. Flat-fee pricing, five tiers matched to grant size, no retainer required.

How it works

1

Scoping

You share the grant opportunity and your organization's context. We review fit, funder alignment, and readiness, then confirm the tier and flat fee before any work begins.

2

Writing

Our team drafts the full application, coordinates with your staff on required documentation, and produces a submission-ready package. You review, we revise, we submit.

3

Delivery

Complete application submitted on time. Supporting documentation organized. Post-submission questions handled through decision.

Pricing

Five tiers, all flat fees. Tier is determined by grant size during intake.

Tier 1 $750 flat fee
Up to $25K

Local foundation grants, small community awards, small state grants. Typically under 15 pages.

Tier 2 $2,750 flat fee
$25K to $100K

Foundation grants, state agencies, mid-size private funders. Standard narrative and budget sections.

Tier 3 $8,500 flat fee
$100K to $500K

Major foundation awards, regional government programs, larger corporate giving. Substantial narrative, detailed budget justification, supporting documentation.

Tier 4 $18,000 flat fee
$500K to $2M

Federal agency grants, NOFA-driven applications, competitive national programs. Multi-section, compliance-heavy, extended coordination.

Tier 5 $38,000 flat fee
$2M and above

Large federal awards, multi-year programs, consortium proposals. Custom-scoped at intake.

How we assign tiers

Tier is determined at intake based on grant value and application complexity — not self-selected. The Grant Readiness Assessment gathers what we need to match you to the correct tier and confirm funder fit.

Our principals have delivered over $107M in funding across federal agencies (NSF, NIH, HHS, HUD), major private foundations, and state and local programs.

Payment terms

  • Tier 1 and Tier 2: paid in full at kickoff.
  • Tier 3: full at kickoff is default; 50/50 split available on request.
  • Tier 4 and Tier 5: 50 percent at kickoff, 50 percent on final submission delivery.

Expedited delivery

Standard timelines are set at intake based on tier and funder deadline. Rush delivery inside one week carries a 25 percent premium on the flat fee. Availability confirmed case by case.

Who this is for

Grant Writing engagements work best for organizations that have identified a specific funding opportunity and need expert execution. If you are pursuing multiple grants per quarter, or want ongoing strategy and funder relationship development, the Strategic Advisory retainer is typically a better fit.

Frequently asked questions

How do you assign tiers?
Tier is determined by the grant size you're pursuing. A $40K state grant lands in Tier 2; a $300K foundation award is Tier 3. There's no negotiation or self-selection: the work scope scales with the application's complexity, which scales with the funding amount. We confirm the tier and lock the flat fee at intake before any work begins.
What happens if I don't win the grant?
Nothing changes on our end. Fees cover the work of producing a competitive application, not the award decision. Funder selection depends on factors outside any writer's control: agency priorities, applicant pool, political timing. We do not operate on contingency, and we don't believe in fee structures that pretend otherwise.
What's the difference between this and the Strategic Advisory retainer?
Grant Writing is project-based: one opportunity, one flat fee, one deliverable. Strategic Advisory is an ongoing monthly engagement that covers grant strategy across multiple pursuits, funder relationship development, and broader organizational support. If you're pursuing more than two or three grants per year, Advisory is usually the better economics.
